Jobs lost. Family members killed in Iraq. Displeasure throughout the world. Income gap growing rapidly. More terrorists now than on Sept. 12th. Less secure nuclear weapons depots. If you're a politician and these situations don't serve your best interests, don't worry. All you have to do is come out against gay marriage. Even the most forward thinking homophobe is still a homophobe.
